On 21 June 2024, we at Hauser Office organised the “Visual Thinking” workshop together with Tobias von Imsinne. A great workshop with the aim of improving our own communication and making things clearer with simple drawings and tricks.
Together with colleagues, customers and partners, we spent a few inspiring hours full of fun, new ideas, drawings and conversations.
Here are a few insights from the day:
The programme
We got off to a cosy start with a get-together over coffee and sweet treats. The workshop then began. Tobias from Imsinne introduced us to the topic of visual thinking and explained how you can change meanings with small drawings. He introduced us to his brand Imsinne and the innovative whiteboards and explained their purpose and benefits.
Introduction to Visual Thinking
Tobias showed how easy it is to visualise presentations better by designing small, appropriate icons. These do not have to correspond exactly to the meaning, because in combination with the corresponding word they work by themselves and remain better in the mind. Initial practical exercises provided insights and showed how easy it is to visualise complex ideas.
In-depth workshops for all the senses
After a small lunch at 12.00 noon, the programme continued with various interactive workshops:
- Typography: participants learnt how to create visually appealing text.
- Shadows: Using simple techniques, they brought light and shadow into their drawings to make them more vivid.
- People: Tips and tricks helped to visualise people and characters in a convincing way.
These sessions provided a valuable opportunity to familiarise themselves with different aspects of visual thinking and apply them directly.
Inclusion
We then talked about the topic of inclusion. The aim was to visualise inclusion by learning drawing techniques with different icons and writing styles.
Conclusion and reflection
At the end of the day, we summarised the most important findings and talked about the newly acquired skills. It was particularly impressive to see how visual thinking can break down communication barriers and address topics such as inclusion. Drawing together and visualising ideas significantly increased the quality of collaboration and creative problem solving.
We would like to thank all participants who took part so actively in this workshop and improved their communication together with us.Special thanks also go to Tobias, who introduced us to the world of Visual Thinking.
We are already planning the next workshop with Tobias. But we won’t reveal any more yet 😊!
Best regards,
Giulia
